The Binary Yard

The charity Justice and Care held their annual summer event at The Binary Yard at the start of September to raise awareness of their vital anti-slavery work.

CEO Christian Guy shared how the team are partnering with police forces to rescue victims of slavery across the UK, empower them to rebuild their lives and put their abusers behind bars.

The charity delivers a Victim Navigator Programme which sees specialist workers deployed in the heart of police forces in the UK – including border teams and serious organised crime units. Each Navigator provides trusted, specialist advice to investigators and is given unparalleled access to cases. The programme is designed to help those affected to rebuild their lives and to engage victims with the criminal justice system.

Over the last four years, the Navigators have given intensive support to 333 survivors, provided strategic advice to 524 modern slavery investigations and supported the arrests of 154 suspected traffickers. 94% of survivors supported by the Navigators are engaging with police investigations, compared to 33% nationally.

We were delighted to support Justice and Care by gifting them use of The Binary Yard – exactly the type of event that we build community space into our buildings to make space for.

Justice & Care brings freedom to men, women and children who have been enslaved, trafficked and brutally exploited. They work with law enforcement agencies to fight slavery, pursuing and dismantling criminal networks and bringing perpetrators to justice, and with governments to create change at scale.
